Executive Director of Resources
Up to £100k

This is a key leadership role, working across both Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council managing a range of key corporate services that includes: Finance, Customer Services, Legal, Democratic and Property Services. It’s possible that the appointed candidate will also take on the role of S151 Officer for the councils, but only if they are a qualified accountant.

You’ll work closely with the Chief Executive and the councils’ other Executive Director to pursue an ambitious transformation agenda that will change how the councils engage with residents and deliver services, embracing the potential of technology to support better customer service, greater accessibility and better value for money. You’ll also play a key part in shaping the councils’ response to COVID-19, responding to immediate challenges around essential changes to ways of working, and pressure on traditional revenue streams. But we also want to ensure that we harness the collaborative and adaptable spirit that has been so evident over recent months and ensure that this continues to define how we work in the future. Enhancing the commercial expertise and capacity within the councils will be an ongoing priority and your contribution will be central to this – ensuring that decision making is well informed and elected members benefit from clear advice on opportunities and risk.

It’s a role that will suit someone who thrives on change, and who can clearly articulate a rationale for new ways of working, that others can relate to, and support. You’ll help to define a new organisational vision for the councils and the practical steps required to achieve this. You’ll help to promote a collaborative and engaging management style that gets the best from others, and encourages professional development. And you’ll be able to make full use of data and evidence to inform key decisions and shape future  service provision.
