Thank you for your interest in the role of Executive Director of Resources here at Bromsgrove and Redditch councils.

I believe that this is a great career opportunity for someone who is eager to fulfil a leadership role in organisations with an appetite for change, and where the focus and attention is very much on what matters most: getting it right for our customers and getting it right for our staff. These two aims are inextricably linked.

The unique circumstances of 2020 have seen the councils respond incredibly to new ways of working, shifting priorities and challenges that are new to all involved. I’m incredibly proud of the creativity, adaptability and resilience that has made this possible. We’re keen to maintain this increased momentum, recognising that, when appropriate, we can bring about change at pace and ensuring that our energies are invested in pursuing outcomes rather than following process.

The role has a broad remit, covering Finance, Customer Services, Legal, Democratic and Property Services – so we don’t have a very fixed view on your professional background; but it’s important that you can bring highly effective strategic direction to each of these areas, drawing on the technical expertise of others as required.

Whilst the role is directly responsible for a number of service areas the postholder will also be the lead on the following Strategic Purposes:

Redditch Borough Council:

  • Aspiration, work & financial independence
  • Living independent, active & healthy lives

Bromsgrove District Council:

  • Work and financial independence
  • Living independent, active & healthy lives

This role provides a fantastic opportunity for someone to work outside the normal remit of a Director of Resources, across the whole council and with partner agencies.

The councils have engaged Solace in Business to support this important appointment, I encourage you to contact them on 020 7976 3311 to discuss this opportunity in more detail.

Good luck in your application

We’re looking for someone who can bring a strategic perspective to the leadership of resources within the councils; who can offer elected members robust and clear advice that supports informed decision-making; and who can bring an inclusive management style that values staff engagement, and encourages collaboration and contributions from all.
